Taking tea with Cosset

Ooo I had so much fun yesterday afternoon and came home feeling sick to my stomach!
Our favourite cafe in Auckland Cosset (you may remember me posting about them a while back here), were so very sweet as to invite us to an afternoon of cakes and vintage.  Needless to say we didn't have to be asked twice!  So we slipped into our favourite vintage frocks, of which I apologise I took no photos because I was too busy stuffing my face with cake, and headed off to the cafe.
Wow what a sight that was, the tables were laden with cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and other tantalising treats.  And as if that wasn't enough a steady round of tiny lavender and lemon cordials made the rounds (seriously you HAVE to try these, they are nothing short of amazing and I plan on drinking them all summer!), followed by miniature spicy soy lattes, cups of tea and hot espresso's to help digest the copious amounts of sugar we were downing.  I had to think back to the old Enid Blyton books when the children get invited to tea at some aunts house! Being that I am half German, I naturally always go for the creamiest, richest looking cake I see but surprisingly the winner of the day for me was a good old fashioned seed cake.  It reminds you of your grandmother, of wholesome baking and comfort food... perfect!
While we were busy shoving piece after piece of cake into our greedy mouths, photographer Laura Forest was capturing the beautiful set up on camera so I can't wait to see the end result.

If you ever find yourself in Auckland then make sure you check this place out, you won't be disappointed!

P.S Although we couldn't eat another bite, we all got to take some cake home with us.  Some people (and no that's not me!) really made the most of it and ended up filling a cake box!  Sorry Saba, had to be done :).

  5. Oh my! How much would I have liked to be a part of that great tea party. That sounds so nice and delicious. The cakes and cookies look yummy. The crockery is wonderful. The girls are pretty. And I've never tasted lavender and lemon cordial. What's a life worth without that?
