Christmas with a twist....

Ok so here's the thing, over here in New Zealand Christmas involves sunshine, BBQ's, the beach, and suntans because while the rest of the world are snuggled up by the fireplace, we are smack in the middle of summer. Regardless of this, when it comes to Christmas we still very much like to pretend like we are preparing for a white Christmas by spraying fake frost around the window sills, staying inside to bake cinnamon and spice Christmas cookies, hanging stockings by the fireplace, and roasting a big turkey or leg of pork when we'd probably rather settle of a salad. My family have never been terribly traditional when it comes to Christmas so this year I decided we should stop pretending like it is the middle of winter and embrace the fact that the weather is gorgeous and the flowers are in full bloom! I wanted everything from the napkins to the Christmas tree to be bright and cheerful, especially because we are not actually religious at all (although oddly enough we still always set up the little Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus figurines up under the tree) and Christmas is just a time for the whole family to get together, eat amazing food and generally hang out.

Anyway I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas be it in snow or sunshine.
xx

My mum is English so she clings madly to the hope that it will rain on xmas day so we can all stay inside and play games!
